Compliance Update
Presenters: Margaret Groves, Michele Ragland
The DECO work plan was initially defined by high risk areas of the OIG, audit findings and investigational results occurring at other major universities, and the School of Medicine’s enterprise-wide risk assessment. As we enter our 8th year, the Compliance Review Services (CRS) section has completed the initial reviews of departments, centers, and institutes. The Clinical Trials Quality Assurance (CTQA) section performs human subject research compliance reviews as a component of the Human Research Protection Program and submits these reports to the IRB and other members of the School of Medicine Administration. We will discuss recent audit findings and give tips to ensure that the departments, centers, and institutes are prepared when it’s time for their review.

Cultivating the Clinical Research Grant Environment
Presenters: Denise Snyder, Rebecca Brouwer
DOCR offers grant development support for non-complex grants (e.g., NIH R mechanisms, foundation, etc.) and provides free review of proposals, with an eye towards a sound operational plan. DOCR is a resource for grant administrators and departments who support faculty clinical research grant submissions. Whether you are at the pre-award application stage or post-award receipt, we want to partner with grant administrators to bridge the operational gap. We offer study planning meetings for new studies and can assist with navigation and troubleshooting. Join us to learn the three focus areas to help the Duke research community, key questions to ask faculty, and resources available to research administrators.

CoreResearch@Duke
Presenters: Moria Montalbano, Chris Freel
This session will introduce the new institutional system CoreResearch@Duke that will be used for Shared Resources. Users will be able to request a service or make a reservation in CoreResearch@Duke, and once the order is complete, an automated billing will feed to SAP. Attendees will learn how users will be set up by departments, what reports are available, and how CoreResearch@Duke will be rolled out.
