For Principal Investigators, Multiple Principal Investigators/Co-Principal Investigators, and PI Fellows
Duke University is committed to maintaining compliant practices in the management of sponsored activities. Primary responsibility for appropriate oversight of sponsored projects rests with the Principal Investigator and sometimes with other senior research personnel. To ensure continued sound management, Duke University requires Principal Investigators, co-Principal Investigators, and PI Fellows to complete financial compliance training and to pass an assessment with an 80% or greater. Project Leaders, Core Leaders, and Project Directors listed as PIs, Co-PIs, or PI Felllows in Duke's Sponsored Project System (SPS) are also required to complete the training.
The online training module should take approximately 30 minutes to complete and is followed by a 10 question quiz. Following the training, a PDF of the materials may be saved electronically for future reference. You will receive an email from the LMS upon successful completion of the training.
Individuals who fail to complete the training will see a delay in the availability of funds for incoming awards. Projects that have multiple PIs, Co-PIs, or PI fellows require that all individuals complete the training before funds become available.
