Marine Insurance

Marine Insurance has two components.

  1. Protection and Indemnity: Provides coverage for bodily injury, property damage or personal injury to third parties arising out of the ownership, maintenance, or use of vessels for which the University is legally liable. According to the provisions of the Jones Act, the policy also provides expanded workers compensation coverage for the crew of the vessels.
  2. Hull: Provides coverage for direct physical damage to the insured vessel.

Aircraft Insurance

AIRCRAFT LIABILITY INSURANCE

Aircraft liability insurance covers the University for its legal liability for damages owed to third parties as a result of incidents that arise from the operation and use of helicopters.

AIRCRAFT HULL INSURANCE

This covers direct physical damage to helicopters. There is a $10,000 hull deductible for each claim.

NON-OWNED AIRCRAFT LIABILITY INSURANCE

This covers the University for its legal liability for damages to third parties arising from the operation and use of chartered business flights. This coverage does not apply to chartered flights for athletic team travel. A certificate of insurance naming the University as additional insured and satisfactory limits of liability must be provided for chartered business flights for athletic teams.

TRAVEL BY NON-COMMERCIAL AIRCRAFT
