The vast majority of Duke’s international research is supported by its existing teams, systems, and processes. The Office of Global Support supports School leaders, business managers, and grant managers when things get complicated.

The Office Global Support is the central administrative single point of contact that, at the request of a school leader, business manager, or grant manager, collaborates with the larger central administrative team and Duke’s network of international partners to help evaluate and structure support needs so that the research can proceed seamlessly in the country and in compliance with Duke, donor, and local rules and regulations.

Internationally based research requires additional planning, processes, and perhaps cost to ensure the work proceeds without any complications or delays. Duke’s existing teams and processes support the vast majority of Duke’s international research. However, as the needs become more complex (e.g., hiring local staff and contractors, support for in country local spend ), which in turn could potentially raise local regulatory issues (for both Duke Staff and Duke itself) such as tax, financial, and other country-specific issues, the Office of Global Support exists to provide a coordinated approach to the issues encountered
