Every year, the Symposium for Research Administrators provides a professional development and networking opportunity for Duke University’s research administration community.  Coordinated by Research Costing Compliance (RCC) and sponsored by RACI (Research Administration Continuous Improvement), this annual event is typically attended by 400-500 of Duke’s research administrators. A Program Committee is formed to provide opinions and make decisions regarding the schedule, plenary, session content, and theme and includes representatives from the School of Medicine, Campus, central offices, and special projects.

Upon checking in at registration and enjoying breakfast while mingling with colleagues, attendees are welcomed by Duke University leadership, expressing their gratitude and appreciation for the work and efforts of the grant community. The guest speaker then kicks off the day with an uplifting and motivational message.

Throughout the day, the Symposium offers a variety of engaging learning and networking opportunities. Attendees can peruse posters that exhibit fresh ideas or innovative tools that colleagues have implemented and other great work across Duke University that supports research. A wide variety of topics is presented in break-out sessions, allowing participants to attend those that spark their interest or addresses a particular learning need.
