Associate Vice President, Administrative Systems Management

Janelle Tarpey was named Duke’s Associate Vice President for Administrative Systems Management on January 1, 2023. 

The Administrative Systems Management group provides Duke University and Duke University Health System with the administrative information technology foundation necessary to respond to opportunities and challenges facing higher education and health care. The department's central objective is to support and enhance the operation of a suite of SAP products as Duke's financial, supply chain, human resources-payroll, post-award sponsored research, budget, reporting and fund-raising systems, resulting in improved administrative processes and providing the information required to support decision making.

In her role, Janelle has functional oversight responsibility for the SAP suite of products – SAP S4, Supplier Relationship Management (Buy@Duke), Constituent Relationship Management (DADD), SuccessFactors, Concur, Business Warehouse (BW), SAP Budgeting and Planning (SBP) and the SAP Portal (Duke@Work).  Additionally, she has oversight responsibility for API Time and Attendance, Tableau, AMT Lease Accounting, ECRT Effort Reporting, Archibus Space Management, and ATS Workers Compensation software.   

Janelle joined Duke in October 2005 and has held various other positions within Administrative Systems Management including Assistant Director, IT overseeing Supply Chain and Accounts Payable functionality as well as Sr. Analyst, IT specializing in U.S. payroll. Prior to joining Duke, she worked for Ernst & Young/Cap Gemini as an SAP consultant.

Janelle holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resources and Management Information Systems from Texas A&M University.
