International Research Administration Symposium Speakers
Marley Thrasher is the Director of RCC. She is responsible for developing, implementing and oversight for compliance training and monitoring financial transactions related to research administration compliance to ensure Duke University is in compliance with all aspects of federal, state, and private funding entities' regulations and standards, and Duke Policy.
Jim Lutheris the Associate VP Finance & Research Costing Compliance Officer. Jim’s responsibilities include policy management, oversight of the compliance monitoring & training program and is the institutional liaison to external sponsors. He is the past-Chair of the Board of the Council on Governmental Relations (COGR) in Washington DC and is the co-chair of the Finance Policy Workgroup for the Federal Demonstration Partnership (FDP).
Dan Vick is the Director of Export Controls. He is responsible for University compliance with the EAR, ITAR, OFAC, FCPA, Anti-boycott rules, DOE NNSA and NRC export regulations, and FAA UAS regulations.
Geeta Swamy, MD, is the Vice Dean and Associate Vice Provost for Scientific Integrity. She is also an associate professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the Duke Human Vaccine Institute.
Megan Huchko,MD, MPH, has a dual appointment as an associate professor in the department of obstetrics & gynecology and the Duke Global Health Institute. She is the Director of the Center for global Reproductive Health at Duke.
Laurianne Torresis the Associate Dean for Research Adminstration at the School of Medicine.
Keith Hurka-Owen is the Executive Director of the Office of Research Support, the pre-award office for Campus.
John Michnowicz is the Associate Dean and Executive Director of the Office of Research Administration, the pre-award office for School of Medicine.
Broderick Grady, JD, is the Associate Director of International Grants and Contracts for both ORS and ORA.
Lindsey Spangler, JD, is the Associate Dean of Research Facilitation in the School of Medicine. She manages Duke’s Clinical Quality Management Program, the CTSA local Trial Innovation Center (LTIC), and works with study teams and central administrative offices to provide operational support and guidance related to complex research matters.
