Electronic Time Reports: Severe Weather Period for February 21, 2020
Duke University and Duke University Health System have designated a severe weather timeframe that affects the biweekly pay period ending March 01, 2020 for the period noted below:
Friday, February 21, 2020, 7:00am until 10:00am
In accordance with the severe weather policy, all hourly paid staff in positions classified as essential service who worked on site during the designated period will receive severe weather premium for the entire shift. If your department records time using the Time and Attendance system, please use the instructions included in the Time and Attendance communication.
Since only employees in positions categorized as essential service are eligible for the 10% premium, please provide to Corporate Payroll Services a file including all hourly paid employees classified in essential service positions who should receive the severe weather premium. The file must be an Excel spreadsheet, and must include the employee’s name and Duke Unique ID Number. The Corporate Payroll staff will record the premium for these employees.
Files must be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org by 3:00pm Tuesday, March 03, 2020.
Please note that departmental managers who have employees working in positions covered by a collective bargaining agreement should refer to their agreement for the process related to severe weather.
Those employees who were scheduled to work during the severe weather period but did not report to work may record accrued vacation, if they are eligible for time off. With regard to the grace period as noted in the policy, when a non-exempt staff member arrives within one hour of the start of their shift, pay will be provided from the shift start time. In order to properly reflect the pay, the staff member should include the additional time as time worked for the specific day.
Questions regarding the severe weather policy should be directed to Staff and Labor Relations at 684-2808. If you have additional questions related to time reports, please contact the Corporate Payroll Team at 684-2642, or email@example.com. We appreciate your assistance with this process.
