Daylight Saving Time

March 10, 2021

Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday, March 14, 2021 at 2:00am. Employees working the 3rd shift on Saturday, March 13, 2021 will be paid for actual hours worked. Please review the following information to ensure appropriate payment and answer employee questions.

An employee who works 11:00pm to 7:00am will be paid for 7 hours. If the employee would like to be paid for a normal work schedule, the supervisor must enter the special code "Daylight Savings PTO"(DP) on the out swipe. This will add the amount of time subtracted due to the change to Daylight Saving time. In this example, one hour of scheduled PTO will be added to the time.

Two messages may be displayed in the Time and Attendance system for employees working during third shift on Saturday, March 13, 2021.

  • A critical exception message - "Employee’s hours not adjusted for Daylight Savings due to invalid punch". The in or out swipe has occurred between 2:00am and 3:00am. Action must be taken by the Supervisor to correct the error.
  • A warning exception message - "Employee's hours adjusted due to Daylight Savings Time". This is a system generated message and no action is required.
